Simply stated, this is THE most important time in modern history to do everything we can to help those in desperate need. With the financial crisis we are facing, families around the globe are struggling to survive. It is a life and death fight for the basic necessities of life - food, water, and shelter - those simple things that so many of us often take for granted.
Now, does your "penny a day" make a difference? The resounding answer is an absolutely huge YES. Given the 300 Million people in the United States, we have the potential to donate over $1 Billion Dollars in one year! This is a history making project that we can all be proud of.
A story that exemplifies the importance of each one of us doing what we can (even if it 'seems' small), is about the little girl and the starfish.
A little girl was walking along the seashore after high tide, tossing starfish back into the water. She passed a man, who said: "What are you doing? You DO realize that it is impossible to save all those starfish, don't you?" She leaned down and picked up a starfish lying at their feet and tossed it back into the waves.
"I just saved THAT one." she said.
If each one of us just saved one starfish (that one child…that one animal…) they WOULD all be saved.
